The Golden Hour: Counting Down the Days

Professor Alison Boggs’s classes never disappoint. We spent the day tackling key topics on media and journalism. In the morning the Professor delivered lectures on Interviewing Skills and Tactics, and taught us basic principles and effective ways on conducting professional interviews. After the lunch break we got back to class where a beautiful surprise was waiting for us. The Albanian students had put notes with different motivational quotes on Kit Kat and Reese's chocolates on our desks. The very inspiring note they left at my desk said “Whether one moves slowly or with speed, the one who is a seeker will be a finder”. This noble gesture gave our class such a positive energy that day and made me think about how small things in life and genuine kindness can make a big difference. After eating the sweets, we had to start the afternoon class where we discussed about libel, privacy and fake news, their impact on the society, how to identify them, and what we can do to prevent and reduce disinformation. Special emphasis received objectivity, fairness, facts and reality as key components of democracy and prosperous societies.

The classes ended and the sun began to set. During the golden hour we hit the road to go to Colleen’s farm. As soon as we arrived we went to say hello to the lovely dogs, cats, sheep and goats of the beautiful farm but the star was definitely a pretty horse called Rain. We were eating the delicious meal cooked for us while enjoying the breezy and warm weather in the farm. After the meal we did some horse-riding in the green fields and then the night started to get cold so we lit the bonfire to get warm and made some s’mores. Gathered around the fire under the starlit sky, we shared life stories of the our past, reflected on the present and our experience and dreamed about our future plans and ambitions.
