A Fulfilling Program at UTC

Another morning when I am rushing from my room without any breakfast. They take time seriously here and I understand that. To make 20 future leaders from 17 different European countries explore and understand American culture in 5 weeks is very difficult task which requires huge effort not only from the organizers but also from the participants. But I enjoy the feeling of rush - it makes me feel alive and hyped.

But enough about me - this program is just amazing and you have to feel at least a tiny part of it. We start our program with a presentation about Ukrainian entrepreneur, Jan Koum. Did you know that he is the founder of WhatsApp? After that the wheel of fortune was spun. Lenya from Iceland gave us tips about saving our mother Earth. These tips are extremely helpful, especially here in the U.S. Most of us have been shocked how irresponsible people and corporations are about ecology here, especially about plastic pollution. But we did not have much time to think about that because a lecture from Dr. Khmelko started. We were given the task of tackling world poverty. Each group had to find the essential problem that causes poverty and solutions to that problem. As you know, poverty is complex problem, thus each group came up with different problem that they want to address. Discussion has not stopped since, even during the break. Now you see how passionate all these students are about tackling poverty!

After quick lunch we were able to listen to the pitches of the veterans from VEP program, which is another program organized by UTC.

After that we visited Amazon Distribution Center at Chattanooga called CHA1. Tour there was truly comprehensive. Now, all the students know what is the mechanism behind guaranteed 2 days Prime delivery.

Officially, this was the end of the schedule for today but most of the students went to the city center to enjoy music festival called Nightfall. And these informal and organic interactions are where real relationships are built. And that is where I was writing all these things. I have been enjoying Chattanooga. It is great, you know.
