Leadership and Education: Filling in the Gaps
Today in the morning we had a session about leadership where we had a great chance to discuss and share our own ideas about it. Like every other session, this one was not an exception since it brought up many questions and new ideas coming from our heads. I would like to point out that one of the most interesting things I found out about this leadership session is that in the United States around 80% of participants are being involved in non-profit associations just because they are being offered. In other words, if you need people to involve in your project just ask them if they fancy joining and also let them know that their participation will make some positive contribution.
After lunch we went to South Carolina Educational Television. There we had a tour together with guide who showed us around all the studio and gave us a closer look on how things work behind the scene. More surprisingly, we even had a chance to see how they are filming scenes for one of the shows. One of the things that caught my attention was the history of this Television. South Carolina ETV have a rich history of teaching, in both formal and informal settings. In the past, because of the lack of teachers, the main purpose of this television was to educate children and it did become a successful way of teaching.
