Media Literacy, Ethics, and Embracing Diversity

Today was a real Friday-Friyay!

We had the honor to talk with Ms. Tracy Simmons about such important topics as Media Literacy and Journalism Ethics. In the morning, we were discussing the necessity of being able to critically think about all the news that we are surrounded with. In today’s society, being media literate, means that we have to be able to realize that media’s messages are everywhere around us and to consider certain questions when examining them.

In the afternoon portion, we came to a conclusion that legal doesn’t necessarily mean ethical and vice versa. Ethics in any profession and also in journalism, is a crucial thing in order one entity to build and keep integrity and reputation.

This 14th day of the program, we have finished it with an amazing night out and concert at a park in Moscow, Idaho. By truly experiencing the American culture there, the time we spent together with the blues music made us become even more bonded and with strong will to embrace all the diversity which we bring and represent!
