Civic Engagement is the Key
I could say that today was just a normal day here on our Institute. But that wouldn’t be true. Although the schedule of this week hasn’t varied much, the speakers that delight us with their presentations make each day unique and special. That being said, today we had the pleasure to spend the day hearing the beautiful words of Tim Bunch. It was the first time that some of us met a teacher from a juvenile center. It gave us a new vision of how the system works: despite its criminal connotation, at the end of the day, it is built up by people that can (and should) be helped. Most importantly, and linking it to the purpose of our institute, we understood that civic engagement is the key for this type of help to succeed.
Dr. Bunch combined his presentation with an explanatory part and a dynamic part. Those two components led to an interactive lesson where everyone got to share his opinion and develop team-work skills. The lesson with Tim Bunch truly inspired us to be more engaged in the community, to work together in order to reach our goal, and to be true to ourselves.
