Learning from Every Angle
Before the Entrepreneurship and Economic Development lecture started I had the opportunity to speak about my country and share something about myself. I said some interesting facts about the Czech Republic. For instance, we are famous for our beautiful historical architecture, castles and the best beer in the world - Pilsner. The NHL ice hockey player, Jagr, and Ivana Trump, the former wife of the President of the U.S., both come from the heart of Europe -Czech Republic. I also shared with my peers about the history and situation of the biggest minority in the Europe -the Roma people. There lives around 12 million who face discrimination and stereotypes, and I am one of them. I encouraged my peers to reach their goals no matter from what background they come from or what people think about them.
During the lecture we created our individuals venture ideas, discussed and finally voted for the ideas we would like to work on. On Monday, we will know the final decisions. After lunch with our amazing student mentors, we went to the Boys and Girls Club to see role of volunteerism in U.S. society. We did some sport activities with local children and youth here in Chattanooga. It was so fun and nice to see the great work of people of the Club. Later on, we went to Merri Mei's beautiful house for barbecue party and met other people from UTC. It was very nice to talk with locals. We all had a great time. We talked a lot about differences in our cultures.
Every day I am learning about American culture, entrepreneurship, and the cultures of my European peers. I am very inspired and my brain is very busy but I like it. Thank you to everyone for this awesome SUSI program!
