Equity or Equality?
Day five has helped us acquire a better understanding regarding the structure of the U.S. government and its education system. Being in an international team has given us significant insight in education systems from all around Europe, the U.S., and Russia. They all have their differences but they centralize around the same goal.
As focus shifts on giving students equitable chances in education, questions arise.
Is giving priority and bonuses to some fair? Is it just?
Whatever the case, if students have what it takes, they will graduate. After all, investing in students is investing in the future!
After the classroom session, our SUSI team had the opportunity to explore Boston. Its history and roots go as far back to the beginning, and while walking the city you traverse history itself. (Fun fact: Exploring was made possible by “Boston Duck Tours”.) Apart from the waving and quacking at strangers and fellow duck riders, we had the chance to see this amazing city from every point of view imaginable.
We have a lot more to do and see. This journey has just begun.
To be continued…
