Quest for Opportunities
After a short daily briefing with Takeo, we got our first introduction class on entrepreneurship with Dr. Philip T. Roundy. These lectures gave us good insights in the basics of entrepreneurship. We got to know more about the meaning of entrepreneurship and we had to think of problems in our communities. The meaning of this exercise was to learn how to look for entrepreneurial opportunities. This was our first step towards our final project, which we are going to present in Washington, DC.
After our lunch at the crossroads we had the pleasure to visit Kim H. White, the CEO of River City Company. She talked about the history of Chattanooga and the company and gave us many entrepreneurial ideas and insights. After her final motivational speech she answered all of our questions. At the end we had the pleasure to take a group picture with her.
After this entrepreneurial visit we had another visit planned, this time to the Mad Priest. This is a local coffee shop with goals to strengthen the bond of the community and providing work for refugees. And last but not least they do all of this while trying to serve the best coffee possible. Unfortunately we did not get to meet the entrepreneur behind this great company.
After these two entrepreneurial visits we visited Rock City for a good hike. This hike got postponed earlier because of bad weather, but today we finally got to visit Lookout Mountain. We closed the day with a visit to Publix where some did their groceries.
