The #FamouslyHot State
After having spent two days in the #famouslyhot state of South Carolina, I still have a hard time embracing how warm, open-minded, and hospitable are the people on the campus. In our second day, for instance, we had the opportunity to have a special welcome party at the Thomas Cooper Library. There we had lunch with some of the management staff of the university. They showed genuine interest in learning more about our cultures and personalities and we had the opportunity to exchange interesting life stories and hear wonderful welcoming speeches from Dr. Wesley Curtis and Vice Provost Allen Miller.
Afterward, we had a session with Prof. Duncan Alford who in less than an hour scrutinized the entire American legal and political system. What followed was a lively discussion and a lot of Q&As which enabled us to understand better how the government in the U.S.A. works. At dinner, we decided to try Vietnamese cuisine at a nearby restaurant. It is amazing how multicultural is the city here.
Can’t wait to see what is coming in the next days!
