Foundations of Civic Engagement

Today we had our first session on civic engagement with Alisha Biler. For lunch we had some good chicken at Chick-Fil-A, and I really recommend trying it! Our speaker of the day was Ms. Terry Goodfellow who briefed us on community engagement. She told us about her job with international students on campus and the ways that students can easily participate in volunteer work within the community.

Later, we had a session with Ms. Sylvie Dessau, a representative from Moms Demand Action. The organization's goal is to prevent gun violence and raise awareness about the issue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgF8Nlj4maM).

In the evening, we cooked dinner at the dorms and spent time together and played games.
