Ice Cream Social Day
Today we learned about the Latino community in the U.S. We mostly talked about the history between South America and the United States, but also talked about the stereotypes that are applied towards this community.
We did a very funny game where we had to sit on balloons to make them burst in order to find a little piece of paper in them. We then had t constitute a sentence with this word using the knowledge we had gained from the lesson we just had. It was a good way to check if we listened during class! ;)
We then had lunch at a Turkish restaurant called "Green Olive" owned by a former USC student. We have started to really appreciate the size of American food!
Finally, to end the day, we had an ice cream social which was basically an evening organized by USC students to get to know us while eating very delicious ice cream! I loved this moment because I learned so much about new forms of segregation in America by talking with an African-American student. I think that these kind of moments when you learn by talking with people are very precious and enriching.
