What is Social Entrepreneurship?

When getting into this program, most of the participants did not know where to begin or what to expect.
What should we do? What questions should we ask? What is social entrepreneurship?
I am certain that I was not the only one asking those very questions prior to this program starting. It is only now that we are moving into our second week of the program that we start capturing the essence of social entrepreneurship. And all students have done so in an extraordinary manner.
During our session of pitching social entrepreneurship ideas this morning it struck me just how socially conscious these people are -just how much they genuinely care about problems in their communities and how dedicated they are towards solving them. It is a true privilege to be considered a person of the same like as them.

After a day of being inside a classroom pitching, we all went out to play kickball and basketball with children from different communities of Chattanooga. A lot of the SUSI participants struggled with the rules of kickball at first (courtesy of cultural differences) but most of us caught up quickly. The charitable spirit of the American people is an element of American society I have always admired and it was great seeing it in real life. Experiences like these make one realize just how privileged one is to have the opportunities one does.
The combination of southern hospitality, American benevolence and European student leaders’ social mission has been a dangerous tool so far. Let us keep developing that asset.
