Changemakers of the Past and Present
Today we participated in some Independence Day celebrations. It was the first time I have ever seen a shark alive and a day of my acquaintance with baseball… Apparently all of the aforementioned can be experienced for those 24 hours we had on July 4th. Since the very morning, the taste of liberty was in the air as we got an opportunity to sleep in after the previous intense 5 days.
As we are fortunate to have learned, the city by the Tennessee River is a famous for people changing the world including Tom Griscom who wrote the famous “Berlin Wall speech” of former President Reagan). Another famous attraction is the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, which is home to 10,000 animals from all over world. It took many million years for evolution to convert a primitive jellyfish into an advanced human and just 2 hours for us to understand how crucial changes are compared to staying put.
Though we saw fireworks the night before, you can never experience too many 4th of July fireworks, right?! We enjoyed it another time during a very “American” baseball game, which was a brand-new experience for us. Long story short, the game was the longest it can be to commemorate every single year of independence with a minute of sport (so it lasted more than 4 hours). Despite the rain and the lengthy course of the game, the Lookouts won! This reinforced our team spirit and motivated us for new achievements, but in the classroom instead of on the field. We're starting to work on our Capstone projects soon -I hope we won’t let Chattanooga down!
Happy Birthday to the USA!
Happy Birthday to the leaders of a change!
