Always Adapting
This week at UO was related to water and forest. On Thursday, we visited HJ Andrews Experimental Forest which is situated in the western Cascade Range of Oregon. The Andrews Forest contains excellent examples of the region's conifer forests and associated wildlife and stream ecosystems. This forest was established in 1948. Now, you can find trees there which are over 60 years old. There, we could see many examples of Oregon's ecogenosis, with organisms adapting and changing to fit the environment. We had an interesting lecture where learned about issues related to the forest's landscapes and local students' researches.
We also visited McKenzie Fish Hatchery where we could observe the breeding of salmons and the staff providing antibiotics to the fish. We felt ourselves like real scientists!
