Moving towards Green
"Bicycle Capital of the country" is the nickname of Eugene, where the University of Oregon is located. European representatives began their discovery of this place with a bicycle tour, led by Marc Schlossberg, a professor of Planning, Public Policy and Management at the University of Oregon.
The concept of sustainable bicycle transportation ties together the University and even the whole city. People are used to riding bikes everywhere, which makes Eugene so different from other parts of the U.S. All of the SUSI students checked out their bikes for the whole month under the University of Oregon bike program, which allows every student the opportunity to borrow a bike. During the bicycle tour, SUSI leaders saw local sights and learned a lot about the development of bicycle activities here. We went through the big campus of the University and discovered for ourselves the most important and fascinating places in Eugene. Now we use bikes every day, which makes our road to classes or to shopping much easier and environmentally-friendly.
