Famously Hot in Columbia

On Friday, the First of July, we had two events. One of them was very special. It was neither classroom lessons, nor travel experience. It was something that we were preparing for days. We went to the kids` summer camp for Boys & Girls Club. More than twenty kids were divided into three teams in order to play various games in eight stations.

I always knew that the best way to find out more about different cultures is to speak with local people including kids. I expected that they would be very active, but apart from this, they were also very interested in our games and activities. Some of the stations presented SUSI students' cultures, kids learnt a little about geography, languages, traditional songs and dances. Sometimes it took a lot of time to organize them, but when it was time to say goodbye, the kids didn't want to leave; they literally embraced us.

After Boys & Girls Club, we visited a local museum where the most exciting part was the geological section. Hundreds of minerals, including topazes, sapphires and quartzites. We've also seen the model of the most dangerous snake in the South – rattlesnake.

Quite enough experience for one day. And as I've noticed, the next one will be even more interesting than the other!
